Virtual University Open Days this Summer
Living in the West Midlands? Looking to go to university locally? Or do you live outside the Midlands but dream to study at one of the fantastic universities in the West Midlands? If yes, then check out these university open events taking place over the next two months!
Why should I attend a virtual open day?
An online event is an excellent opportunity for students to experience many different universities. To understand the university, its culture, and its course offering. Students should treat this in the same way as they would a face to face event. Do some research and prepare some questions in the same way you would for a face to face event.
What should I expect from a virtual open day?
Virtual open days will differ depending on the approach the institution is taking. In the short you should expect to:
Get detailed course information through talks and/or virtual tours
Hear from current students talking about student life
The opportunity to find out more about accommodation options
Information about student finance and the financial support available
The chance to ask questions and talk directly to support services staff
Each virtual open day will be different. So keep an open mind and be patient with the university, the process for delivering virtual open days is still a new one and technological difficulties will always present challenges.
Here are some tips on the things to do before a virtual open day:
– Do some research on the institution beforehand
– Look specifically at the courses you are interested in
– Generate a list of questions. Group your questions into four main categories:
1. Subject-specific questions
2. General university life questions
3. Student life e.g. social or access to sport facilities
4. Finance
